A Novel Approach for Elimination of Defects of Blocking and Unblocking in Distance Relays during Power Swing

In power systems, distance relays are commonly employed as the primary protection for transmission lines, and their operation is of utmost importance. Power swings a type phenomenon that can lead to improper functioning conventional relays, posing threat uninterrupted flow electrical power. The occurrence swing disrupts impedance measured by relay, causing it deviate from normal load condition enter relay tripping zones. This research paper introduces novel method based on Prony extracting current waveform components, enabling fault detection during swings. Subsequently, proposed method’s accuracy assessed through simulations implemented nine-bus system, involving three-phase signal processing application algorithm.
